PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Rotary International is the oldest and largest service organization in the world. Rotary is made up of more than 33,000 clubs and over 1.2 million members worldwide. The object of Rotary is to foster the ideal of “service above self”.

In today’s global society, you may have heard the phrase “Think Globally, Act Locally”.
While that phrase was coined perhaps 10 years ago, that is precisely what Rotary has
been doing since its inception in 1905. The members of the Bonsall Rotary Club are
local business owners, professionals, entrepreneurs and other community leaders.

Our club is small but our ability to positively impact the community and the world is not.
You may have seen us doing local service projects in the Fallbrook/Bonsall communities,
you may know us for a dental clinic that we built in Mexico (we have temporarily
suspended our involvement due to local safety concerns), you may be interested to know
that we funded the drilling of a water well in Africa last year and an on-going project to
build a memorial wall at Camp Pendleton to remember our fallen soldiers of the Iraq &
Afghanistan wars.

Over the past fifteen years, the Bonsall Rotary Club has raised thousands of dollars
through our major fundraiser – Wine, Brews & Blues Festival -- held each May. Our
next WBB Festival will be Saturday, May 21, 2011. The net proceeds from the event
are returned to the local community to support such organizations as the 4H Club,
REINS, Boys and Girls Club and Bonsall Education Foundation. Over the years, the
Bonsall Rotary Club has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to nearly 50 charities,
primarily in the Bonsall/Fallbrook area.

As you can see, the Rotary Club of Bonsall lives the ethic of “Think Globally, Act
Locally” in all we do. Keep an eye out for us this year as we plan do be even more
visible in our community through local service projects. Better yet, if you may be
inclined to learn more about Rotary, please join us for breakfast any Thursday morning
at San Luis Rey Downs Country Club in Bonsall. You are invited to be our guest at a
